Mickey Hart

Rightside Solutions is proud to announce it's renewed association with Mickey Hart and 360° Productions. Over the past year, Rightside has been providing Executive Producer, production, and career consultation to the legendary percussionist of the Grateful Dead, author of four books, and one of the most important producers and performers of the World's music. Rightside has now joined with Jonathan Shank to manage and Executive produce Mr. Hart.

We look forward to the return of Planet Drum, and more Rhythm Devils performances in 2006-2007.

Jen Chapin Rightside Solutions is proud to announce the signing of Jen Chapin. In the two years since releasing her critically-acclaimed debut with Hybrid Recordings, Linger, Jen has toured the East coast, West, South and Midwest, given TV performances ranging from the WB Morning News to Late Nite with Conan O’Brien, and given birth to a baby boy, Maceo. Along the way, she has recorded a fresh new album of 11 songs of desire and frustration (both personal and political), whimsy and hopefulness – Ready. As a committed social activist, Jen has worked hard to interweave her musical and political passions. She chairs the Board of Directors of WHY (World Hunger Year) -- an organization co-founded by her father, the late singer-songwriter Harry Chapin -- and helps to support WHY’s role as a leading advocate for innovative, community-based solutions to hunger and poverty. Most intimately, in “Let it Show,” she sings to her yet-to-be-born son “of authenticity” – something she strives for and achieves so plainly in her work.

Steve Kimock
Steve Kimock is one of today’s most talented guitarists and composers, a master musician known for his uncanny ability to balance passion and power with soaring grace. Relix magazine recently dubbed him “The Guitar Monk” for his relentless pursuit of ‘Zen and the art of guitar.’ The Steve Kimock Band is always evolving, reflecting Kimock’s ceaseless search for new musical horizons. And the band’s signature sound, built around the core of Kimock’s lyrical guitar lines and the inventive percussion style of drummer Rodney Holmes (Brecker Brothers, Santana, Wayne Shorter), follows SKB through every incarnation.

Bockman
"Bockman is a four piece band inspired by a scientist named Dr. Bockman in the short story "The Euphio Question" by Kurt Vonnegut. In the story, Dr. Bockman finds a mysterious void in space leading him to invent a box to capture the signals emitted from the void. When amplified and retransmitted, those signals gave off incomparable, continuous happiness. Bockman finds himself in the middle between a man who wants to mass produce the box, and another who thinks it should be destroyed."

Bockman is currently finishing their latest recording, and preparing for upcoming tours with Brothers Past.

Markus James

Markus James is originally from Virginia and the DC area, where his first musical memory, from the age of four, is of an old, blind blues singer he saw many times playing on a sidewalk. He first encountered West African stringed music at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival when he was mesmerized by the Gambian Kora player and singer, Alhaji Bai Konte. He travelled in West Africa and also Haiti, studying traditional ensemble drumming, before first visiting Mali in 1994, when he made his way to the village of Niafounke to meet the legendary “Malian Bluesman”, Ali Farka Toure.

Markus’ collaborations in Timbuktu with Hamma Sankare (Calabash player on Ali Farka Toure's tours and albums), Hassi Sare (master of the one-stringed Njarka violin), and Solo Sidibe (who plays the Kamele N'Goni, the hunter's harp of the Wassoulou people) are the subject of the documentary film and CD / DVD "Timbuktoubab". The film has been presented by 3 Film Festivals, broadcast frequently on national satellite channel Link TV (Direct TV and Dish networks), and on many PBS stations. The album spent 10 weeks on the CMJ New World radio top 20 chart, reflecting the programming tastes of over 200 music hosts.

Upcoming in 2006: in January, Markus will perform at 2 Desert Festivals in Mali; in February he will return to Mississippi to record performances there; and in April he will play on several tour dates with Mali’s Saharan guitar band, Tinariwen.

Omar Torrez

Omar Torrez -- guitar virtuoso, soulful vocalist and composer -- creates the strongly original musical hybrid he calls Latin Soul & Groove. The young artist's European-Mexican roots and iconoclastic spirit inspires his excitingly innovative music, a fresh sound that is at once reminiscent of such modern masters as Stevie Wonder and Prince, and rich with echoes of Paco De Lucia's guitar. He radiates fiery passion, drawing in both his band mates and audience, and connecting on the deepest spiritual and sensual levels.
